Having made a significant impact in 2018 with the launch of its SE Angelus and Tonare acoustic models, PRS further turns up the heat (albeit for only a short while) with the introduction of a very limited run of two new models – the A270E and the A265E. What sets them apart is the use of specialist tonewoods at no extra cost.
Potential buyers will need to act quickly to get one, however, as PRS says only 136 examples of each will be made.
The A270 features a koa back with koa sides and the A265 has pao ferro back and sides. Both guitars also feature Paul Reed Smith’s hybrid bracing pattern that first appeared on Private Stock models that sold for $10,000.
The guitars both come as electro-acoustics, featuring Fishman GT1 pickups with soundhole volume and tone controls. PRS also offers a lifetime limited warranty, each example will be set-up individually by PRS Europe and comes complete with a hard case. They are destined to sell for £788 each.
