Taylor’s new V-Class bracing earns MIPA Award

Taylor Guitars has been awarded the Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA) 2018 for Best Acoustic Guitar for its new Builder’s Edition K14ce. Designed by Master Guitar Designer Andy Powers, the Builder’s Edition K14ce features Taylor’s new V-Class bracing system, described by the maker as ‘..a powerful sonic “engine” that advances beyond traditional X-bracing, delivering an enhanced playing experience by boosting both volume and sustain while improving intonation’.

‘It’s an honor to have our work recognized in this way by fellow guitar enthusiasts and members of the musical instrument media,’ says Andy Powers. ‘At Taylor, we’re constantly pushing ourselves to improve our instruments and offer our best to serve and hopefully inspire musicians. With this guitar, we believe we’re scratching the surface of an exciting new territory in the acoustic guitar’s development. We’re thrilled to be building these guitars and eager to hear the music made with them.’

Currently, Taylor’s new bracing design is only available in the top of the range Builder’s Edition K14ce, but it is expected that the new internal design will be rolled out to more affordable Taylor models in the future.
